ORDESA AND MONTE PERDIDO NATIONAL PARK AND SURROUNDINGS

A land of contrasts and captivating scenery, a land rich with an ancient culture and strongly embedded traditions, the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, listed in UNESCO, and its surrounding valleys are a source of endless wonder. You can wander over and over again around the great Ordesa Canyon. With its Dantean walls, it has the appearance of a true Colorado in the Pyrenees.

With its dizzyingly-high cliffs, suspended cirques (amphitheatre-like valleys formed by glacial erosion), aerial “fajas” and sparkling waterfalls, Ordesa is the epitome of excess. Its mineral walls contrast with a luxurious nature, and form scenery of extreme beauty and stunning originality.

You can also wander round the Añisclo canyon. Less well-known, it is even more rugged. It is reached via a narrow winding road, built into the rock face and mountain pines, running along the green and turquoise waters of the Bellos River. Perhaps one of the most spectacular routes through the Pyrenees. You can then relax at the Plaza Mayor in Ainsa. Its bell tower, built in the style of a minaret, recalls the forgotten times of the ‘Reconquista’! During the summer, the cobbled square welcomes bistro terraces where you can taste the famous tapas.
